What the heck is chicken fry? Chicken-fried steak? Apparently my Oklahoma-native friends are short on taste for food not from Oklahoma. Definitely top five most unhealthy things I have ever eaten, and not "wow-that-was-really-unhealthy-but-delicious-and-I'm-glad-I-ate-it," more like, "wow-that-was-really-unhealthy-and-I-should-have-just-gone-to-Sonic-across-the-street." I didn't even realize I was eating a steak sandwich the entire time. Seriously. No hint of meat whatsoever. This place was really weird, too. Looked like an old creepy Wendy's, and every table had a phone you use to call the kitchen to place your order. There was no table service and you had to walk up to the counter to pay anyway so this gimmick makes no sense, other than I have to touch a phone that has been manhandled by a hundred other people.

Went to Chuck House Restaurant this evening and had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Great food and great value. Definitely will be back

One of my favorite places for chicken fried steak, but as others have mentioned, the mashed potatoes leave a lot to be desired.

Been coming here since I was a kid. Best steak sandwich ever.

As an OKC native this place is well known for its indulgent chicken fried steak. Interesting decor with ever friendly staff. Make the Chuck House a stop when you're in the area. Never have had a bad experience. Heck, my family bought shirts! I recommend the okra and chicken fried steak.

This place will give your unborn children heart disease. I love it. Chicken fried Steak lovers know this place. Some common questions I ask people when they they discover I'm new to Oklahoma are: Where is the best BBQ? Where is the best Country Fried? This place consistently gets the nod for one of the better places to get your country fried food craving. The mash potato's were my only complaint, they were from a dry mix. But the price reflected that so no hard feelings here. I don't go to these places looking for gourmet. They have a nice looking salad bar too.

Salivation. Super cheap salads. Excellent deep fried everything. Inside it looks kind of old and dirty though. I wish they'd remodel but that has no baring on the food- That was awesomeness.

I haven't eaten here recently due to not being in OKC, but this is the definitive chicken fried steak restaurant for me. It's cheap, tasty, and always filling. Just don't eat here too often, or you'll not survive for long. The chicken fried steak, white gravy, mashed potatoes, and toast provide you with a meal that has no nutritional value whatsoever. Sometimes, though, it's good to indulge in the comfort food the Chuck House has to offer.

Good ol country cookin! I loved my visit here, it's reminds me of the old cafe back home. I had onion rings and the burger will be coming back very soon to try the chicken fried steak.

If you like trying something new, and seeking adventure this is your type of place. When we go somewhere new, you won't catch us at Chili's or McDonald's. We have to go somewhere the locals go. The reviews here were a little mixed and we were a little weary of our decision to come here, but we are SOOO glad we did. The food was AWESOME, it was very unique ordering your food from a phone, and although the prices were a little higher than what we saw on the menu pic posted on yelp, it was still very inexpensive! If we're ever in OKC again we will be back! Go try it!!!

How does one even begin to write a review for Chuck House? You don't focus on the food, because let's face it, we're talking $5 chicken fried steak (yes folks, those menu prices on Yelp are accurate). You don't focus on the ambience, because it is exactly what it looks like (a converted Burger King?). You don't focus on the customers, because why would you walk into a place occupied primarily by elderly Oklahoman couples? ...Or perhaps the better question is, why WOULDN'T you? All I can say is this: go to Chuck House. Go drive past the obnoxiously loud red and white neon sign. Actually go into the restaurant (no drive thru!), sit down, and make your order by picking up the phone at your table (yep, you heard me right). As you wait an unexpectedly long time for your food, admire the homely (and sometimes religious) art on the walls. Go there and eat your $5 chicken fried steak dinner, not caring about what exactly is in the meat you're eating or how clogged your arteries are getting, because you just experienced Chuck House, and there's nothing that can replace that experience.

Driving up to this place, seems a little bit strange to see an old fast food place now converted into a place know for chicken fried steak. Once inside, it was busy and tables were full of people eating or waiting to eat. We saw phones at the table, and wasn't sure what that was about, we picked up the menus and knew what we wanted, so after watching everyone else, we finally figured out to go to the counter and order. When it's ready they call us on the phone at the table. It took a while, but they were busy, the food came out and was excellent. My chicken fried steak was nicely breaded, but was a thin cut of round steak, so far it was on the right track, the milk gravy was thick and had that country flavor. My fried okra was crispy and plentiful. This was priced for around $6 and well worth it. I would come back, and it's on the cheap eats list for sure.

the chicken fried chicken sandwich is outstanding, so much better than a chicken fried steak sandwich, but this place does it so right!

Cheapest chicken fried steak in okc. Don't let the price make you think they skip on quality. Way better than any chain restaurants' chicken fried steak. They even have a drive thru. Chicken fried steak on the go!!!

What can I say? Good ol' fashioned American fare. Really clean, throwback style interior that pays homage to the old diners portrayed in 70's films. The menu is filled with traditional favorites that will take you back to your childhood. The prices were extremely fair for today's market and the portions will pack your belly. The salad bar was okay and our order was ready in quick fashion. A+ for this delicious diner.

At this little hole, or pit, or dive; the customer is always wrong. The very large African American female was taking orders for the drive thru, and we picked up the order phone. It rang a good five times and screamed across the restaurant to hang up the phone a she'll get to us when she can. She was your typical uneducated uncouth stereo type that zero knowledge of what etiquette was or how to use it. I'm sure this is how she acts at home with her children. Anyway, we place our order with the same rude disdainment, and 20 minutes goes by. We see three inside orders go that where taken after ours. We also see 5 drive thru orders go out after our order was taken. We left, tried going through the drive thru to speak to a manager. Was told by the same servant that we would have to come inside to speak with the manager. So I called the manager from my cell phone. That conversation summed up to, I was wrong because I didn't want for the cook time on a grilled chicken patty that takes 12-15 minutes. I'm thinking we waited 20. Then I was accused of yelling at the servant in the drive thru. By that point I hung up the phone. So, unless you like being treated like some ghetto rat's child, leave Chuck House alone!

Def not the best in the universe, but was tasty. Needed something to chow down and I ate the chicken fried Sando. It was alright. Good place.

Surprisingly I heard about this place from my grandma, who I didn't even think left the house! We went a few years ago, and I liked it. When we were in the area looking for a quick lunch, I took my mom and sister. We all had the chicken fried steak lunch, which included mashed potatoes, Texas toast and gravy for $6.50. The chicken fried steak is to die for, very delicious!! I deducted a star for the mashed potatoes, no one likes instant potatoes, gross. I suggest getting the crinkle fries instead. After lunch we decided to order pie, I did not regret that. I got apple, mom got coconut and my sis got chocolate. You know when it got quiet, that pie was good. Try it, and get the ice cream too :)

Definitely not the best in the universe as they claim, but a great value and good cfs. My only issue is its another tired restaurant that hasn't had any updating in 20+ years, including the odd way you're served...don't walk up to the counter, but sit down, read the menu, then call your order in on a nasty phone at the table all the while you're looking right at the server taking the order! Then when it's done they ring you back to go pay and pickup at the counter. Mighta been a novelty in the 70's, but not now. Who wants to hold a public phone handset nowadays just before you eat?!?

Not bad, not the best in the universe like they claim. But they take credit cards, so I came here after walking out of Ann's, since they only take cash. I got the chicken fried steak dinner for $7. You go sit down and order from the phone at the table, they ring you when it's ready, then you go up to the counter and pay and pick up your food and go back to your table. The CFS was ready in about 5 min! The mash potatoes were ok, I expected better. The CFS was good! The dining room is clean, does not smell weird like other reviews mention. Overall, a good experience for not much money!

Best chicken fry in OKC. Restaurant could use a little updating, cleaning maybe. Smelled a little weird the last couple times in--Was a bit unappetizing. Not sure about that--been going there for years without a problem--it's been the last few now.

The food was good & cheap. I'm originally from Texas so CFS was a staple for me growing up. For $7 you get a full meal of CFS, your choice if side - I got fried okra but you could choose from that or corn or salad and your choice of potato - fried, mashed or baked with Texas toast & gravy!!! I don't think it was the best in the universe but for the price it was pretty good. I didn't see any seating inside - this place is an old style drive in. Maybe another location???

This place is "OK" at best. Not worthy of more than 2 stars unless you've never eaten anything outside of OKC. The breading on the chicken fried chicken was stale, which didn't help. But...still only a 2.5 star at best! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

This was such a yummy and cool place.. The people were so friendly and outgoing...I had the chicken fried steak dinner and plus some fried okra.. OMG it was to die for... The atmosphere was really neat as well.. It looks a lot like a typically "Whataburger" or "Huds"... They have a phone at your table to call in your order... Kids think that is pretty cool...

I was born and raised in Moore, OK for 20 years and have always been a Del Rancho fan! I have lived in California for 30 years now and visit Oklahoma often. On this trip we decided to try the Chuck House. It's clean, staff is nice. As far as best chicken fried steak around?!?...NOT A CHANCE! It's not bad...just mediocre. Save your taste buds heartbreak and go straight for the best: Del Rancho
